The Medium is the Message – performing arts as a mouthpiece for the unspeakable

From Virtual Sparks to the Brindisi Stage: A Dance of Creativity

Let’s rewind a bit. Before we physically took center stage, our virtual journey set the rhythm. We huddled online, pouring our hearts into shaping what lay ahead. The activity may have taken a turn, but the bond we forged during those virtual chats? It only grew stronger.

Virtual magic, they say. We soaked in the stories of digital wonders, presented by our host. “Screen Dance” was the buzz, where dance and movement transformed into a visual feast. We marveled at AlphaZTL’s projects, each one a unique gem. It hit us – this was beyond Covid. This was about reaching places words couldn’t, touching lives in ways only dance could.

Ready for more? In this digital symphony, we delved into the soul of media. How the medium molds the message, how second receptions shape our art. A dance of the senses, it was, a quest to explore the magic within the screens.

As the sun kissed our faces in Brindisi, we embraced each day with joy. Mornings were all about diving into the host’s creative world. “Where words falter, the body speaks,” they said. And we danced, letting our bodies tell stories words couldn’t. We laughed, we moved, we learned life’s tales through our very beings.

Afternoons brought the magic of workshops. With AlphaZTL guiding us, we crafted performances that spoke of inclusivity, of diverse voices. Popolomondo, they took the spotlight, crafting a dance with people of all abilities, proving that movement knows no bounds. West African dance, its heritage and impact, came alive in our steps. And who could forget the stilt workshop? TenRock and FES brought stilt walking to life, a dance on towering legs, a testament to passion.

And here’s the twist: the marginalized became the mentors. Clients who had once been in the shadows now taught professionals. A shift that changed lives, giving new meaning to the dance of learning.

NamaStay e.V., the newcomers, embraced every opportunity to learn. Workshops became their canvas, soaking in the partners’ expertise. And then came the mini-documentary, a journey captured on screen. Our screen dance became reality, showcasing the dance of learning and experiencing.

Ah, but the climax was yet to come. Brindisi Performing Arts Festival beckoned. We showcased our journey, our creations. In a tapestry of professional and budding dancers, we shone as equals. Our moves, our dreams, they all swirled in sync, underlining the power of inclusivity.

So there you have it, a journey from pixels to the stage. From virtual sparks to the grandeur of Brindisi. A tale of creativity that danced across screens, across hearts, and finally, under the open sky.

The Fundación Escuela de Solidaridad is a project that aims to recover the family sense of people who, due to various circumstances, have not been able to and cannot experience it. It starts from a concept of a universal family where any creed, idea, religion or conviction is accepted and fully integrated, with respect as a method of intervention and personal development. With these premises, the Foundation welcomes people living uprooting, social disadvantage, abuse or exclusion into a home: mothers with children in emergency situations, young immigrants, adults and adolescents at risk. The home is the starting point for personal recovery and in it the key method and training for future integration into society is developed. This idea is rooted in a spirit of non-biological “paternity” or “mothering”. People who are vocationally dedicated to this task act like any father or mother and do not receive financial remuneration for this work. The home is a nurturing space that feeds and promotes learning tasks and where introducing new content is a constant. The Foundation has a philosophy of openness, of not putting conditions on the people it welcomes at home, except in the case of addicted people (alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc.) who are referred to specialized centers. At the same time, a feedback phenomenon occurs over time. The testimony of the oldest in the home becomes a role model for the newcomers.
